This is the only video I can find that pretty much covers what I'm looking for. I want to design a part that fits into another part using a 3D scan, its not a floor mat though, but I should be able to transfer this over to what I'm working on.

So how can I turn this model into a 2D drawing when I want to cover this mat with fabric?

Will the old HandySCAN Black Elite now have flexible working distance 200 to 450mm as the one sold now maybe due to software update?

The new clipping plane tool, will it work with the original Handyscan elite? Is it something that needs to be purchased or is it something users can make themselves? Been using the Elite for just over a year (moved away from Faro). Very pleased with it vs our old Faro.

Could we use an electrostatic effect to hold markers on aluminium subjects? Possibly use micro coils with adhesive markers. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😂😂 🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼🍀☮️😎

Very informative video. I'm grateful for the 3d print files. I'll be testing these hexagonal shapes on a car.

I use a wire mesh normally used for fencing and 3d printed clips that are put to the wire and where the markers are sticked on. I made different sizes and made magnetic spacers or use clamps to hold the wire mesh in place.

Great video!! Over the last couple of years I’ve traveled to Thailand with my handy scan as well all over the US. I have designed many different target domes and even made my own tape strip with targets on it. Watching this video was amazing

Been using the Max for dozens of projects now. Almost replaces the Black Elite, except for very small very high resolution scan needs. Where did you source the mount for the phone/ tablet? That did not come with our Max Elite kit. Thanks!

This is truly a game-changer development. I own a 3D scanner with integrated photogrammetry and an excellent scanner, but the HandyScan Max is a generational leap. The standoff distance and large marker spacing makes it so much faster.

The magic words "design intent". Without knowledge of how the component interfaces in the assembly it can be difficult to even get usable CMM data to reverse engineer and make a model. Furthermore, I 100% agree with your approach and unfortunately aftermarket parts manufacturers get the "wrong" type of model when paying for reverse engineering services which tends to sour them on the entire process. "Stay gold Pony Boy!"

Amazing, thanks for sharing. Sometimes it can be really challenging to figure out how industry experts do things like this. I learned a lot. I am quite amazed by the flattening process. I thought it would be much more difficult to figure out the flat pattern due to all the stretching and special installation techniques used for paint protection film. I would absolutely love to have that scanner but its just out of budget for a DIYer.
